Holding Hands Kit — Assembly Guide
Follow the steps below to assemble your Holding Hands Kumiko kit.
In The Kit
Your Holding Hands Kumiko Kit should include 20 individual pieces. There should be (8x) long pieces with 6 notches cut in each piece. There should be (8x) short pieces with 4 notches cut in each (evenly spaced along the length) and there should be (4x) medium pieces also with 4 notches cut in each (with un-equal spacing). Ensure your kit has all the requred pieces!
Step 1:
For this step, connect all 8 long pieces as in the image here. Each long piece will connect its 4 outer-most notches to 4 other outer-most notches. Be sure not to press too hard. The pieces should snugly fit together without much pressure needed. If the pieces aren't fitting together easily, be sure you have the notches aligned correctly and don't press too hard or you may break the pieces! When you complete this step, you should have the basic frame complete, with 8 notches facing upward and 8 more facing downward.
Step 2:
In this step, use 4 of the 8 short pieces as in the image here. When you finish this step, you should have 16 empty notches facing downward and no notches facing upward. You should have 4 short pieces and 4 medium pieces remaining in your kit.
Step 3:
Flip your kumiko over so all the notches are facing upward now. Use your remaining 4 short pieces and assemble them as in the picture to the left. At this point, all the notches on the long, outer frame pieces should be filled. You should have only 4 medium pieces left in your kit, and your kumiko should have 4 empty notches facing up and 4 facing down.
Step 4:
Use 2 of the remaining 4 medium pieces and attach them as in the picture. You should have only 2 medium pieces remaining in your kit, and 8 notches left, all facing downward.
Step 5:
Last Step! Use your last 2 medium pieces as in the image. Your kit is complete! There's no need to glue the pieces together. They should stay connected using friction only. If you want to glue them, use simple school glue and something small (like a toothpick) to apply a small dab of glue at each joint. Enjoy!
